Our HOA Board of Directors recently renegotiated its contract with Waste Connections. As you may have noticed, waste collection companies are driving to automate the pickup process. Automation allows for cost control and increases safety. With the new contract comes some changes in the collection process, which are detailed below:
Waste
- Effective April 1, waste service for residents will include servicing of only 1 cart (cart may be provided by resident or by Waste Connections for a rental cost of $3).
- Additional waste
- Additional 96-gallon waste carts can be rented by a resident at $3 per cart per month, and with a $10 delivery fee paid by residents. The fee paid for rental of the additional waste carts includes service.
- Residents may use their own additional waste carts/trash cans that are at least 32 gallons in size for a service fee of $3 per month per cart payable by residents. However, Waste Connections will not be responsible for any damage to resident-provided carts.
- Seasonal exception
- During the months of June through November, Waste Connections will pick up as many as 4 bags of yard waste each week at no charge. Excess bags or waste carts during that period – and any excess bags or waste carts from December through May – will be charged a fee of $2 per bag or $3 per cart per month.
Recycling
- After April 1, 2020, recycling will be picked up in the 96-gallon recycle carts provided by Waste Connections. Waste Connections will deliver a 96-gallon recycling cart at no cost; however, you must contact them at 303-288-2100.
- Homeowners may use their own 32- or 64-gallon containers for recycling. However, Waste Connections is not responsible for any damage to resident-provided carts.
- The HOA board understands that some residents produce minimal waste and recycling and that a large container may not fit in their garage. As such, the board encourages neighbors to work with each other. Consider adding the minimal waste from your neighbor to your waste cart.
